Immunity
Immunity (n): Protection against or lack of susceptibility to a disease, poison, infection, or the like; Resistance to harmful influence; Exemption from civil obligations or jurisdiction.
My second week training or should I say “studying” starts tomorrow. Currently, on science lectures, we are brushing up on things that have something to do with the body’s innate ability to repel or destroy invading microorganisms or other noxious substances (Immunity). So far, the lecture part is boring BUT the transcribing part of it is fun. Although there are instances when frustration steps in. And I blame it all on the dictator’s accent.
I’m just enjoying the easy part of this whole thing. For in the next 3 to 4 months, there’ll be a lot of time for it to suck & grind the joy out of this training.
I watch “Survivor: Cook Island” every Saturday. Obviously, I’m routing for the Asian tribe — Puka. I remember cheering them on last saturday for the first reward/immunity challenge. I literally jumped for joy when they finished first and got the (head of the) immunity (idol). And yesterday, they did great … again! Although Yul was sent to Exile island, he was able to find the hidden immunity-thingy — a compass. I kinda wished a Filipino could have gotten it … but heck, an Asian (Korean) guy finding it is not bad.
After that, I decided to clean-up my PC. Burned files on a disc and deleted some. I used the “Disk Cleanup” wizard … checked some boxes/options … and then it happened. Again. Something went wrong. Files got corrupted. Important Window files went missing. Since this happened to me before, I was kinda cool about it. I just deemed, “so I’ll just use System Restore!” But then, even ‘System Restore’ didn’t worked. I’m screwed! Good thing, I was able to move some important files to my drive D. And because I didn’t want to deal with it anymore … I did not want to waste any more time & effort on trying to fix it, I resorted to the simplest thing I could have thought of doing — FORMAT drive C. A few things I forgot though: saving my emails, my favorite links, frequently used fonts for my site, and my bookworm deluxe game record. And the rest (programs, softwares) are just a ‘re-install’ away. Until now, I’m installing and upgrading programs & softwares. Guess i’ll be doing a whole of time on the net downloading new files & upgrades.
Don’t you just wish that there’ll be “immunity idols” hidden along the streets we walk by everyday. Then we’ll be able to collect them … then use them when we desperately need them (or maybe pass them to someone who needs it). Wouldn’t it be cool to use an “immunity” from heartbreaks, sickness, death, exhaustion, sadness, menstrual periods, pregnancy, perverts, calories, dengue, AIDS, being dumped, allergies, crashing PCs, etc.
But then again, maybe we do have an immunity against the facts of life. There are times we get lucky and be able to dodge the bullets and walked away without a even a scratch. And I sooo want more of that!!!
